Premium Coolant Exchange (Florida Hot Climate Edition)
Living in Florida means your Super Duty faces relentless heat, high humidity, heavy towing, and endless traffic that really tests the cooling system. That’s why I’m a firm believer in going beyond a basic flush.
At Power Stroke Pros, our Premium Coolant Exchange – Florida Hot Climate Edition is the complete cooling system refresh your 6.7L deserves. We combine a full coolant exchange with genuine Motorcraft Yellow, a low temp thermostat upgrade, and a fresh Motorcraft Degas pressure cap replacement.
Why Motorcraft Yellow Is Non-Negotiable
Ford designed the 6.7L Power Stroke with a dual cooling system that works hard in high-heat environments. The current factory-recommended coolant is Motorcraft Yellow Prediluted (VC-13DL-G) or concentrate (VC-13-G), meeting WSS-M97B57-A2 spec.
This advanced P-OAT formula gives:
• Superior protection for aluminum components (heads, EGR cooler, radiator)
• Excellent high-temperature stability — vital when Florida summers push things to the limit
• Long service life (up to 10 years / 200,000 miles with proper care)
• Outstanding heat transfer and deposit resistance
I’ve seen the problems caused by mixing coolants or using “universal” formulas in these trucks. In Florida heat, shortcuts lead to overheating, reduced efficiency, and costly repairs. That’s why we only use genuine Motorcraft Yellow.
Upgrades That Make a Real Difference in Florida Heat
To give your truck every advantage in our hot climate, we include or offer these performance upgrades as part of the premium service:
• Low Temp Thermostat Upgrade
The factory thermostat opens around 194°/201°F. We replace it with a high-flow low temp thermostat (typically opening at 175°/180°F or similar, such as SPE Motorsport or Mishimoto options).
This upgrade can drop coolant, oil, and even transmission temperatures by up to 20–30°F under load. It helps the engine run cooler sooner, reduces heat stress on the entire drivetrain, and is especially beneficial for heavy towing or stop-and-go driving in Tampa Bay traffic. Many owners report noticeably lower gauge readings and better overall reliability in hot weather.
• Motorcraft Degas Pressure Cap Replacement
The degas bottle (overflow/pressure) cap is a critical but often overlooked part. Over time, the seal weakens, allowing pressure loss, coolant overflow (“puking”), and air intrusion that hurts cooling efficiency.
We replace it with a new genuine Motorcraft Degas pressure cap to restore proper system pressure, prevent leaks, and ensure the cooling system operates exactly as Ford intended.
What’s Included in the Premium Coolant Exchange
• Pressure testing of hoses, connections, and the entire system
• Complete flush of both primary and secondary cooling loops
• Thorough removal of old coolant, sludge, and contaminants
• Low temp thermostat upgrade installation
• New Motorcraft Degas pressure cap replacement
• Refill with fresh Motorcraft Yellow Prediluted 50/50 (or properly mixed with distilled water only)
• System burping, air removal, and final temperature verification
• Digital service record for your files
This isn’t a quick drain-and-fill — it’s a thorough cooling system overhaul tailored for Florida’s demanding conditions.
Why Florida 6.7L Owners Benefit Most
Hot climates accelerate coolant breakdown and increase the risk of overheating during towing or idling. Adding the low temp thermostat and fresh degas cap gives you lower operating temperatures, better heat rejection, and extra peace of mind when the outside temp is 95°F+ with humidity to match.
